ACTIVE INTERFACES Closing event

In the context of the energy transition, the ACTIVE INTERFACES research project – coordinated by the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) – provided the opportunity to develop new strategies for the concrete consideration of building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV) into the renovation processes. Celebrating five years of fruitful interdisciplinary collaboration, a final meeting on June 4th brought together the project partners at Château d'Auvernier, one of whose buildings houses an integrated photovoltaic roof.

Realized with the support of the Swiss National Fund (SNF) in the framework of the National Research Programs "Energy Turnaround" (NRP 70), the ACTIVE INTERFACES research project brought together ten research groups spread across Switzerland and involved about thirty architects, engineers, and scientists in five different sub-projects.

The works carried out in this context highlight that, thanks to the new technologies in building integrated photovoltaic, the building owners and architects have a wide range of possibilities to combine architectural quality, renovation of existing buildings and a significant increase in local renewable energy production.

The ACTIVE INTERFACE research project is distinguished in particular through 7 doctoral theses, including 5 already completed and 2 in the process of being, more than 40 conferences and over 30 articles. A set of summary sheets has also been produced to present the multiple results. These are available on the project website.
